DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker Review
The machine features a simple switch on the front, which can be turned to off, or to one of the brewing functions. The DeLonghi EC55 Espresso Maker offers a unique espresso creation process, with the use of back-pressure from the black knob attached to the side of the portafilter, which helps blend and develop the espresso.
Pros of the DeLonghi Espresso Maker
The best thing about the DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker how much quality the machine has for having such a low price. For less than one hundred dollars, you get a machine that will make delicious espressos.
The machine is designed to be easy to use, as it only has one dial to turn. The water tank is a great size, as it can make up to ten shots and refilling the tank is easy, with the door on the top of the machine. The entire machine is small and looks great, with its' black and stainless steel design.
The DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker generally lasts several months before any maintenance is needed, and it will produce drinks at the same rate, no matter how old it gets. Brewed drinks average around 180 F and the crema produced is always thick and delicious.
Cons of the DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker
The biggest problem with this espresso maker are the low clearance spouts, where the espresso comes out of the machine. The biggest cup one can fit under the spouts is around twelve ounces and anything bigger would be a difficult fit. Although its' not great for big espressos, it works great with six to eight ounce cups.
Another problem, which indicates this machine is for brewing smaller espressos and may become an inconvenience, is the smaller than average coffee ground holder. It may make larger espressos lighter; however, if you are using smaller cups to fit underneath the spouts, the smaller size coffee ground holder should be the perfect size.
The EC155 Espresso Maker isn't loud; however, it may get a little louder with age. Finally, brewing awkward smelling espressos and having a smelly water tank may be a problem, depending on the water used and the smell it originally had from the factory; however, the smell can usually be washed away.
